Feel Your Way Fit - Glow With The Flow Chapter 2 - Part 1

By Moss Greene ©2002

Glow With The Flow

In time, choosing better feeling thoughts could make you so happy that you wouldn’t care if you ever achieve your fitness goal. But, don’t worry, we’re not going to stop there. We intend to take you all the way, so you can have it all. For now, we have a little bit more to explore in the area of joy, peace and happiness. Although we believe it’s very healthy to want things, such as your fitness goal, we think it’s a mistake to expect the things that you want to bring you a sense of joy, peace and satisfaction.

More than likely, you’ve already achieved a degree of success in your life. You probably completed some level of education. Perhaps you even have a successful career. Maybe you wanted to get married and you accomplished that. Did you want to have children, get a particular car or buy a house? Accomplishment feels good, doesn’t it? But haven’t you noticed, that in each case, accomplishing the goal was often soon followed by a feeling of dissatisfaction? Kind of, “And that’s it? I thought it was going to make me feel better for at least a little bit longer.”

The next thing you know you’re looking around ‘outside’ yourself again for something else to fulfill the longing for joy and peace. Every winter during the holidays, millions of greeting cards are sold wishing everyone joy and peace. So a lot of people must want it. And, if we keep wishing it for them, it must mean that a lot of people don’t have it. It’s true, most people don’t experience much joy and peace in their lives. Why do you suppose that is?

Could it be because most people spend too much time looking outside themselves? And, not only do we tend to count on the things we want “out there” to satisfy our longings “in here,” but we often look “out there” into the world and allow what we see to cause conflict inside us. We sometimes believe, “If I could only change ............, I’d feel better.” Or, even more often we think, “If THEY would only change ............, I’d feel better.”
