Failure to Launch
Guest Author - Rain Battle

Sue and Al love their son Trip very much. They're proud of him; he's handsome, gregarious, successful and a genuinely nice guy. Their only complaint: they can't get him out of the house.

At 35, Trip still lives at home with his parents, even sleeping in the same room he did as a child. His parents are healthy, Trip certainly has the finances to live on his own, so why does he insist on remaining dependent on his family? That's a question for Paula, a professional motivator that Trip's parents hire as a last resort. Her job is to get him out of their house and her game plan is very simple: she'll get Trip to fall for her and once he does, she'll convince him to move out.

What Paula doesn't expect is just how wonderful Trip really is. She actually enjoys his company and finds herself unable to keep a professional distance. As she begins to fall for Trip, he realizes that Paula may not be what she appears. Soon he suspects the truth, that his parents brought her into his life for one reason.

Directed by Tom Dey ("Showtime"), this film stars Sarah Jessica Parker ("The Family Stone") and Matthew McConaughey ("How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"). It's a decent romantic comedy with just enough fluff for a date movie, but not enough substance to be truly memorable.

Also starring are Kathy Bates ("Misery," "Titanic") and Terry Bradshaw ("Fox NFL Sunday" TV) as Trip's parents, Bradley Cooper ("Wedding Crashers"), Zooey Deschanel ("Elf"), and Justin Bartha ("National Treasure") as friends.

Extra! Extra! Tidbits About the Film
NOTE: Although rumor mills report that that the two stars, McConaughey and Parker didn't get along well on the set, there's no discomfort apparent in their acting - they are fairly believable as a romantic pair.
