Interview with Cher Rue

Being fifty hasn't slowed down plus size promoter and producer Cher Rue of Dana Point, California. Besides being married and having raised one child she's shared the responsibility of providing entertainment for other BBWs with Lisa Marie Garbo. These partners in crime are the duo behind the plus size club, Club Bounce as well as Volupcity, The Big Girl's Show, BBW Press and HourGlassFashions. Whew! Cher took some time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions.

Moe: Do you consider yourself a fat advocate?

Cher Rue: I consider myself someone who believes in helping others, seeing others happy, and helping them with their confidence. I am a promoter of size acceptance but I am also a promoter of treating everyone the same, no one is better than anyone else and no one should be judged. I want everyone to be healthy and happy no matter what size they are. I see the person inside not what they look like.

Moe: You belong to a lot of BBW events is there one you're especially proud of or you would consider your favourite project?

Cher Rue: I love all the projects I am involved with and always have new things in the works, but if I have to pick a favourite it would be Club Bounce, for I get to see people coming out of their shells, smiling, making friends and feeling good in a non-judgemental environment.

Moe: Why is it important for BBWs to get out and be seen?

Cher Rue: It is important for BBWs as a whole to get out and be seen, to show the world our size is not who we are. God made animals of all sizes. I look at it like this: there are rabbits, and horses and elephants and all different sizes of animals, and people are different too and they should be accepted for themselves.

Moe: What would you like to see happen for BBWs over the next ten years?

Cher Rue: I would like to see, as soon as possible, for the mainstream to accept BBWs as equals in all areas: modeling, acting and all professional capacities we choose.

Moe: Do you have any new projects that you're working on?

Cher Rue: We are working on a new television project that we are very excited about. We are also planning a lot of new ideas for Club Bounce.
