This week I want to show you my favorite fashion trend of this season. This new ‘shag’ is one of the newest creations by the nation’s leading style makers. I like a style that is at home in many situations and this one is perfect, adaptable to the student heading back to the campus, the career woman or homemaker.
Versatility is another one of the benefits of this new ‘shag’. The ‘shattered’ layering allows the sides to be tucked behind the ears or fringed in front, the bangs can be brushed off the forehead or worn in full bangs and even for back layers to be put into a small ponytail or braid.
This style is a wonderful way to update a long straight hairstyle without losing the length and femininity. The new shape and form of this style is very flattering to many face shapes, while having a trendy look. And it is easy to care for since the shape is cut into the style - no worrying about curling.

Hair color is an important part of creating this classy look. Subtle color-blending creates beautiful dimension in this style. As the layers move independently, the subtle shades of color accentuate the lines of the cut rather than overpowering it. It is important to use tiny strands in a color weaving technique and to stay away from the larger streaks that have been popular in previous seasons.

To create the perfect color feeling for this style, I suggest color weaving with several shades close to your natural hair color. [Staying in the same color family or slightly warmer.] For instance, if your hair is naturally dark neutral blonde, start with a tint slightly darker such as light warm brown in the underneath layers. Next, apply a tint one or to shades lighter than your own, such as light blonde or light red blonde to the layers in the interior of the haircut. Finish by gradually transitioning into a tint three or four shades lighter, such as extra light blonde, applied to the top layers. Each change of color is to be carefully blended with the tint in the previous section so that the effect is very subtle.
