Ugg Boots

Pamela Anderson first started the trend up here in Canada when she was seen wearing her Ugg boots behind the scenes of Bay Watch. Everyone was rushing out and getting themselves a pair of the sheepskin lined boots. Years later they are still hot among the stars, Canadians, Americans and many others.

Ugg is the common known name for a boot with a 200 plus year old history of keeping Australians and New Zealanders warm. The original boots were considered "ugly" but they weren't meant to be fashionable. They were meant to be functional. Now they are fashionable and functional.

Years after Bay Watch, Pamela is still a fan of Uggs. I recently saw a picture of her and co-star Denise Richards (Blonde and Blonder) strutting down the street in matching pink Uggs. Now I'm not saying to go out and get yourself a pair of pink ones but with over a hundred styles to choose from I'm sure you'll find something that speaks to your taste; from the classic boot to the Ugg slipper or the Ugg clog.

If you're looking to ward off the winter chill with your own sheepskin booties that are also fashionable here's a few places where you can shop online to find them:

UGGAustralia was started in 1978 by Brian Smith. It became part of the Deckers Outdoor Corporation in 1995 and is the leading producer of UGG and other casual and comfortable footwear. Their Ultra Ugg boots are on Oprah Winfrey's list of favourite things. Like the boots the site exudes a soft atmosphere of casual comfort and is very easy to surf and find what you're looking for. They ship internationally.

Bootbay.com started as a small retail boot store in East Tennesse to become a retail chain. Bootbay carries Ugg Australia boots and shoes. When I last checked they had one page of Uggs with five different styles of Ugg boots. They have a price comparison between their price and mall price. Need to obtain a Return Authorization Number if you want to return something. They have a six-month policy against manufacture defects and returns are at your own costs. They only ship to the US.

eBay! pretty much carries everything so I wasn't surprised when when I found Ugg boots and slippers. Read details carefully as well make note of how much selling and kind of feedback received. Compare prices with retailers listed here. If it isn't a substantial savings I'd go with the retailers because of their return policies.

Marty's has 60 Outlet stores in 4 states and have been selling for over 30 years. No Ugg brand here but they do have a knock off version that's cheaper. Do a search for Bearpaw or Emu. They are definitely cheaper. Bare in mind they won't have the same quality of a real Ugg.

Shoes.com has shoes for the entire family. They are part of the Brown Shoe Company and boast 125 years of experience. They almost sound too good to be true with their "115% price guarantee, 365 day return period and pre-paid return shipping". They also carry the traditional Ugg Australia brand. They have 53 styles of boots and 48 styles of casual shoes. Ships to the US only. I especially like their site as it's easy to surf and easy to find what you're looking for.

Zappos has a HUGE selection of Ugg products for the whole family. Just the women's section produced 14 pages of ugg boots, shoes and slippers. Many widths available. They have "free shipping storewide, with no minimum order sizes or special exceptions" and 365 day return policy and 110% price protection. They ship to the US and Territories but not internationally.

Here's to warm and fashionable tootsies.
