Taking Action - Making Things Happen

Do you find yourself putting off until tomorrow what you know you should be doing today? Do you know you should be going forward but something seems to be holding you back? Do you find yourself procrastinating? Often, the best thing to do is jump right in and begin going for your goals.

American Heritage Dictionary defines procrastination as: To postpone or delay needlessly. If you’ve prepared a doable plan of action and developed a productive to-do list then it’s time to go forward in powerful and positive ways.

This quotation by Napoleon Hill author of the classic book, Think and Grow Rich says it all, “Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.”

Here are a few tips to help you stop delaying and start succeeding:

1. There never is going to be a perfect moment to begin. The key is actually taking the first, second and third steps with the best information you have at the time. Perfectionism can be debilitating – do your best and strive for greatness.

2. Carving out the time to begin working toward your goals is good time management. Achieving your goals is about making the time and then staying on task. Success takes self-discipline. Self-discipline is consistently doing what it takes to make your goals reality – even when you don’t feel like doing it.

3. Having a well thought out plan of action that then turns into an organized to-do list will help keep you going forward in positive ways. Feeling in control of your time turns into the self-confidence needed to keep going forward even if the going gets tough.

4. Fear can often stop you from taking action. Is fear a factor? Could it be fear of success or fear of failure? Often, taking the first step can help eliminate some of the initial anxiety associated with beginning a new venture. Work to stay focused on the BIG “why” for achieving your goals. Channel energy and attention toward your inner motivators. It’s your positive and unstoppable mindset of success that will help make your goals reality.

Your future begins with the first, second and third positive steps you consistently take toward your goals. Take the leap of faith and go for it – what do you have to lose? After all, you’ll probably be one step closer to achieving your goals!

“As you begin to take action toward the fulfillment of your goals and dreams, you must realize that not every action will be perfect. Not every action will produce the desired result. Not every action will work. Making mistakes, getting it almost right, and experimenting to see what happens are all part of the process of eventually getting it right.” Jack Canfield, author
