Fried Red Cabbage with Apples

Fried Red Cabbage with Apples

  • 2 lbs. red cabbage
  • 1 medium onion - chopped
  • 1-1/2 T. vegetable oil
  • 2 medium apples - chopped
  • 1 tsp. all purpose seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 T. flour
  • salt & pepper to taste

Preparation -
Shred the cabbage. In a large skillet, saute the chopped onion in the oil. Add the shredded cabbage and saute until the cabbage is wilted and tender. Add the chopped apple plus 1 to 2 tablespoons water and simmer 5 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently. Mix the all-purpose seasoning, cinnamon, sugar, flour, salt and pepper together. Stir into the cabbage mixture and cook over low heat until the sauce is slightly thickened.
