Liz Claiborne

If you are looking for clothing that is "classic" and "contemporary" but able to fit an "active" family lifestyle then Liz Claiborne may be for you. The company was started in 1976 by a then unknown designer, her husband and two partners (Liz Claiborne, Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer and Jerome Chazen) all of whom have since retired from the fashion industry.

Liz Claiborne provides product for two distinct brands segments. In Direct Brands there's "Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Lucky Brand and Mexx". And in Partnered Brands there's "the Liz Claiborne group (Liz Claiborne, Liz & Co, Villager, Axcess, Claiborne, Concepts by Claiborne), the DKNY Jeans group, Monet group, the Cosmetics/Fragrances family of brands and Narciso Rodriguez".

Selection: The plus size selection includes a choice of tees, shirts, blouses, sweaters, dress pants, casual pants, denim, skirts, dresses, blazers, jackets, swimwear, petite and golf. Many of these categories have a limited selection, especially dresses, blazers, petite and swimwear.

Sizing: Liz Claiborne's women's sizing ranges from 14 - 24 (1x - 3x). Men's shirt sizing goes up to 2x.

Pricing: The product pricing ranges from $28 - $99 for tops, pants for $55 - $99.

Availability: Liz Claiborne ships to United States only and shipping is free on orders over $125.

Overall Impression: I get a conservative feel from the product line of dressy casual to office wear. If you like to show some skin save your time. Most of it is passable but some of it is just hideous geo-prints. I didn't see any plus size models; which, was of course disappointing.

While their selection choices may be limited overall it is a nice choice considering this is not their main market. It's great to see designers out side the plus size industry expanding their branding to include plus size. The more interest shown leads to the likelihood for expansion of the plus size line.

Their shopping bag is easy to read, use and understand and complete directions are easily accessible to explain each component. The website is uncluttered and factual information is easy to connect to.
