Plus fashion designer Peggy Lutz has been offering gorgeous plus size formalwear for proms, weddings or gala events for over sixteen years. Her fashions focus on cut, fabric, colour and style. Initially, Peggy Lutz Plus (or PLP) catered to customers with "glamorous" lifestyles but today through the magic of the internet any plus size woman with access and a need to dress for an important formal event can take advantage of their offerings. PLP is located in Windsor, California.

Selection: PLP has five main sections: ready to wear, bridal, evening, day to evening and wearable art. There are seventeen different dress styles, ten jackets, six tops, three pants, four skirts but a multitude of fabric options and combinations including sleeveless and long sleeve options. There are about twenty different options for bridal wear.
Sizing: Not all dresses come in all sizes but in general they offer clothing in sizes 12 - 40. Anything from their online store can be made to fit height and body measurement specifications (these of course are non-returnable) but may take up to four weeks to complete. They have their own sizing scale so please refer to their measurements before ordering. Don't assume that because you're a 3x at Lane Bryant that you are a 3x at PLP.
Styling: I would say most of the fashions are for an over-thirty-crowd but they do have options suitable for the plus size prom attendee.
Pricing: PLP's dresses and ball skirts range in price from $199 - $669 depending on style and fabric. Bridal gowns range from $199 - $739+ depending on style and coordinating pieces.
Availability: According to an email they ship all over the world and the cost of shipping depends on the size and value of the order as well as to where it's being shipped. U.S. Rates vary depending on order total from $14 - $22.
Overall Impression: One of the best things about this site is that, if you are willing to wait, they will construct the dress according to your measurements, color and fabric choices. Even for regular orders extra special attention is given to size. When you order you are asked to provide measurements for your bust, waist, hips and thighs as well as your height. Basically, you are treated like a star and you didn't even have to go for a fitting.
The website has a nice range of models both in size and in age but it is well over do for an update. It's looked the same for at least the last three years and has outdated news on the front page. It's actually quite annoying to get around, even within the store, by having to constantly back track. Shipping information is difficult to find. When I emailed asking for shipping information I learned that a new site was due to be revealed in the next two weeks.
