Summer Diet Tips

Summer is an ideal time to lose weight but for many, the summer can be a diet nightmare worst than the winter holidays. Not to worry, the summer diet tips below show you how to deal with all the summer weight gain triggers that can undo months of hard work, plus link to travel workout videos that show you how to burn extra fat and calories when you're traveling or short on time.

Summer Diet Dilema #1: Kids are home from school which means more ice cream and frozen treats in the home, less time to workout, and added stress.
Summer Diet Tips for Home: Your old routine isn't going to cut it anymore. Come up with a new plan to fit in your workouts and set up special days for frozen treats. Early morning before everyone gets up or late at night when everyone is winding down are great times to train. This will help you continue to burn fat and calories and reduces stress. Also limit frozen treats to twice a week. You know all that sugar is bad so take this opportunity to teach family about moderation and find other ways to bond with your family on non-treat days. Frisbee or crafts are great ways to bond without added calories.

Summer Diet Dilema #2: Summer BBQ's and parties often include high fat, high sugar, high calories foods and alcohol and it's often difficult to say no (hot dogs, margaritas, beer, creamy pasta salads look so good, and pushy friends and family too!).
Summer Diet Tips for Parties: Saying no can sometimes come off as rude but showing up with a couple of super healthy dishes is often appreciated. This allows you to eat more of your good stuff and less of the bad stuff. Another great trick is to limit yourself to 2 drinks and fill up on smart water. Dehydration is always a great trick to deal with drink pushers!

Summer Diet Dilema #3: Vacations and weekend getaways make it tough to stick with your healthy diet and your normal fitness routine.
Summer Diet Tips for Travel: Sticking to your usual routine and meals won't work so plan different types of workouts, research healthy food options, and bring healthy snakcs. Pack a bag with healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, protein shakes, and/or powder greens. Keeping blood sugar level prevents binges, overeating, and bad choices. Print out a list of healthy restaurants before you leave and print out a quick full body circuit you can do at your hotel room, hotel pool, beach, or park. Check out the travel workout tips for ideas and great travel workout videos.
