A Review of Sensory Rich Activities
Lil' Angel Gifts is a company that was inspired by Cameron, who has Angelman Syndrome. His mother, Jennifer Fiander is the founder and owner. Jennifer is also a former teacher. The site sells journals, ebooks, notecards and stationery. You can learn more about the family through her Special Needs blog and podcast.

You will find contests and a newsletter to sign up for. The site has several categories - baby, friends, travel, pet, get well, thank you, graduation, housewarming, bridal shower, wedding, anniversary and special needs/medical.

At the special needs/medical section is where the Suggestions for Sensory-Rich Activities ebook sells for $12.99 is listed. You can purchase through paypal, or send a money order.

The book is geared toward teachers, therapists and parents for children with special needs to obtain sensory integration activities and learning tools for kids with autism.

This is a 25-page ebook that offers ideas for activites that covers all the senses - visual, auditory, oral, tactile and smell/aromatherapy. There are colorful images that guide the reader, plus recipes for playdough, finger paints and clay.

Some of the activities include tactile bins, snow play, sensory bath play, massage, vibrating toys, paper mache, sensory room, water bottles, projectors, sand bottles, rainsticks, whistle game, sound machine, vibrating toothbrush, sand and water table, nuk brush, chewy tube, spice guess, blanket swing, horseback riding and swimming.

There are links to the resources for locating items for your home or clinic. This is useful for therapists, teachers, clinics and families. You can print it out and have the therapist look through it to give their recommendations.

This would make a nice gift for a teacher, therapist or parent at the end of the school year as a thank-you or for a holiday present. There is no need for shipping charges at the last minute.

At the end of the ebook there is a list for the reader to input their five favorite activities, as well as several blank lined pages for Notes.

One of the resources listed was new to me is Self Help Warehouse. I found a story telling glove with velcro puppets for $7.95. That would have been fun when my kids were younger. The site also has Spanish resources.

The back of the ebook explains about the company and Angelman Syndrome. There are some products from Cafe Press too. Suggestions for Sensory-Rich Activities is a good start for families just learning about sensory issues their child is having. It explains how to apply various items around the house into therapy tools to help the child. There is no glossary, but not many terms you would need to know, just the basic senses.
