We are the “pass-through” states, those states that you stare aimlessly out the window of your car or camper on the way to a “destination”, wondering how long it is to the state line. Could that be it? No. Are you serious? Oh, it can’t be much farther. If you see one more cornfield, sunflower, wheat waving obnoxiously across an endless ocean of grass, or another small town with an absurd name that makes no sense, you’ll scream. If you’ve experienced this syndrome then you’ve traveled the Midwest, also known as America’s heartland, breadbasket, and assorted other names that we’ll just leave to your imagination.

While we can’t boost of an ocean, snow-capped mountains, skyscrapers (unless you include Chicago and we do lay claim to it), or a very sweet dialect, we do have some unique and fun destinations that most travelers miss in their zeal to pass us by.

There are many intriguing Midwest destinations. The Midwest has a lower cost of living, most destinations are only a day, or two apart, we have amazing state parks, a couple of Great Lakes, and really great food. In fact, I will be sharing an occasional special MidWest recipe with newsletter subscribers.

I’ll be covering some great travel destinations that you may not have heard of, many you might know about but haven’t had an opportunity to visit, and give you some insight into the towns, the people, and the great geographic diversity that make up the American MidWest. Unique festivals, fairs, antique malls, seasonal events, national events, and some truly odd destinations will be in store for readers.
