Sirloin Steak & Onion Stir-Fry

Sirloin Steak & Onion Stir-Fry

  • 1 lb. sirloin steak
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 T. cornstarch
  • 4 T. soy sauce
  • 4 T. dry sherry
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup peanut oil

Preparation -
Thinly slice sirloin steak across the grain. Cut into 1 1/2" long strips; set aside. Peel and slice onion and separate it into rings; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 2 tablespoons sherry. Stir steak into mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to marinate. Combine remaining soy sauce, sherry, sugar and salt; set aside. In an uncovered wok or a large uncovered skillet, heat oil to 375°. Add onions and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add steak and remaining sauce mixture; stir-fry for 2 to 3 more minutes. Serve immediately.
