Eagles Hotel California Music Review
Guest Author - Lisa Shea

Hotel California. The ultimate classic from the Eagles. Is there truly someone out there who does not know that guitar solo?

Many artists put their best songs deep into the album so listeners had to go through other works to get to it. The Eagles started out with a classic and just kept going. The guitar, meaning and harmonies in Hotel California were just awesome. I used to listen to this every few days while I was a youngster. "New Kid in Town" drops down to the love-won, love-lost sadness that most of us have gone through.

Then we get hit with another classic - "Life in the Fast Lane" that again just about everybody can relate to. Whether it's booze, drugs, or just a life out of control, we've all had that feeling that we were going to crash and had lost an ability to stop.

Even the later songs are really enjoyable. I've always liked the rhythms of "Victim of Love" and the quieter sounds of "Pretty Maids All In a Row". This isn't just a single cookie-cutter song repeated over and over again. Each song on the album really has its own flavor.

One of my favorite albums.
