I grew up in a house with a kitchen that was always filled with the aroma of homemade pies, cakes, cookies, and other goodies. My Mother loved to cook and bake! Like most good Pennsylvania Dutch cooks of her generation, she rarely used a cookbook or followed a written a recipe. The recipes were all "in her head". I inherited her love of cooking but I rely on cookbooks, index cards, and my computer to store the recipes.

I love to cook traditional favorites from old family recipes but I also like to be creative and try new things. The recipes you´ll find here are varied. There´s Pennsylvania Dutch favorites like Shoo-Fly Pie, Funny Cake, Red Beet Eggs and Chicken Pot Pie. Other recipes are from friends, family, magazines, newspapers, internet friends, newsgroups, etc. My cookbook collection has also grown considerably in the years since I´ve been online and found Ebay!

Some of my other hobbies are also connected to my country kitchen - literally. Kitchen utensils and gadgets with green wooden handles adorn my kitchen walls along with shelves full of gray agate coffee pots, cake pans, muffin tins, and other mottled gray cooking vessels and kitchen treasures. My cookie jar collection has expanded from the kitchen into the dining room ... largely due to Ebay. I also enjoy working on my website, Need A Recipe?...Call Mom!".

The internet is an incredible treasure trove of knowledge. We can trade our recipes with friends across the country or around the world as easily as with friends across the street.
