XBox is Pricey but Amazingly Good
The X-Box has gotten a ton of hype over the past few months. 733 MHz Intel main processor. 233 MHz graphics processor. Built in ethernet port. Amazing games. In the end, is it worth the hype?
The answer depends, as always, in what you're looking for in a system. Do you just want a super-fast game you can play by yourself, and you don't mind a 20" monitor? Then you're better off buying a PC and dealing with that.
However, there's a HUGE contingent of gamers that wants more than that. We want to lounge on our couch, with the big 26" TV screen and room-deafening stereo system. We want to be able to play with our friends, egging each other on while we're sprawled out on the floor. You simply can't do that with a PC system.
Halo and Dead or Alive 3 are both incredible games, ones that you could play for weeks if not months. Munch's Oddysee is a later version of Abe's Oddysee, a game that I spent many many hours playing. This new version is even better - with fuller commands, more options and great graphics.
The pricetag is a little steep - systems often go for $499 and up if you can even get your hands on one. If your alternative is buying a new PC, though, this really isn't that much. Toss it on a credit card and pay it off over the year. If you're playing it every night, you'll easily save yourself the money you would have spent going out to arcades or movies.
It's definitely a must-have around here!
