Diablo 2
Act 1: The Scroll Tree

OK, you're off in search of ... A Tree. Yikes. You head out into the Cold Plains further, clearing out Steel Venom the Howler, Haze Thorn the Unholy, and other similar creatures. You find the Masoleum which is a single, easy level. You hit the Crypt, which is another treasure trove - full of "undefiled graves" you promptly defile. Who is the good guy here?

You find Cave - Level 1 - which is your first indication of a multi-level dungeon. All multi-levels are labelled in this obvious manner. There are Dark Rangers down here, and Death Skin - a glowy skeleton. You probably have a merc along with you at this point, but they refuse to be pack mules! How annoying.

Level 2 in this Cave is very small, quite disappointing. You'll hit Seethe Shard the Hunter. Come on back out.

Head into the Stony Field. You find foul crow nests, complete with Foul Crows. Hmmmmm. More Hungry Dead and hoppy Carvers. Plus Goatmen, Skeletons and Bile Venoms. There are five Cairn Stones which you can't do anything to yet, and an Underground Passage - Level 1. Take that.

There are two levels to the Underground Passage, and it's full of Vile Hunterss and Misshapen. Kill them and head out to the Dark Wood from Level 1.

The Dark Wood has Skeleton Archers and Vile Lancers plus their partners in crime, Vile Hutners. The giant Brute is pretty scary looking, but he goes down with a few hits. Find the tree in here and the Dark Wood Waypoint. When you go to the tree, poof it hands over the scroll, just like that.

Do you think Ms Priestess is happy getting the scroll back? Nah, she said, Now I want you to go to Tristram, to get Cain.

This is STILL (believe it or not) part of Quest 2. OK, back to the Cairn Stones. Touch them in order. You have a portal to Tristram. My first thought when we walked through the portal is, "Ooooo we can talk to the cows!" My second thought was "Yipes, the poor cows!" Yup, they're dead. The buildings are all destroyed, and you find the body of poor peg-leg Wirt who used to take your money all the time. Now you get lots of money from his body, plus his peg-leg.

There are lots of Night Clans around - horned guys, and various other creatures. There's a cured Griswold, but leave him alone. There are Returned and Skeleton Archers lurking about. Free Cain, and head back to town. Cain tells you how that wanderer really was the "Hero from Episode One". That finishes up this quest.
