This is a new quest - the Melee Combat Test. You can earn 20 gold, renown reward 30. You have to kill beetles in the guild woods. Your instructions say to press the BACK button to see quests.

OK, go forward and right to the yellow arrow on the map. Note you can get an apple by the tree with the X button. You don't need the apples until tomorrow and they seem to vanish overnight, so just leave it. Head into the arch for the forest, for a loading screen.

OK as you begin in the forest, be sure to press the white button to wield your stick. When it's wielded, you'll see crossed swords in leftmost spot on lower right (combat) indicator. Just walk around to the red spot on the map and you'll see them. They are of course VERY easy to slay. Hit them all to get 'quest completed'. You receive a Guild reward of 20 gold, a renown reward 30, and I got an extra renown reward 10. You also get experience 10. A side note here, the Water splashing is very mild, not cool ripples like some other current games. Ah well.

Go back out to the Heroes' Guild. He's happy with you, and says you can do tasks for servants if you want. Say "no" so you can explore before you begin. He says come and see me when you're ready.

Go towards the bridge - there's another apple on ground before big rock.

Head in and left at the garden. A boy here wants to be the fastest apprentice. Your task is to ran to the demon door and back in 50 seconds.

OK, here's the path. Assume it'll take a few practice runs before you get this right. Go out of the garden and turn right, across the bridge and right around the rock. Go straight to the second bridge and straight across the little rock pathway to the door. You'll hit the door at about 25 seconds. You don't need to press a button or anything, just get there, then back again to the guy.

Be sure to start out by talking to him from as far away as possible and hitting the talk button when you barely get into range again. The key seems to be when you get to the door - don't try to turn around, just "pull the other way" without spinning the map. When you do it, he says "That's amazing!". You get money to 46g.
