The boss is ... a lava monster! Big surprise. There are various things it does. When it sends out three tentacles, obviously sit on the rock he isn't going for, and attack the other tentacles. When it sends out two, be ready to jump up over the tentacles as they curve around. When you kill this first section, he'll come after you. The trick in part 2 is to get close to him when he breathes fire - he can't hurt you if you're in close. That's it, grab the shard when he's toast!
