There is a large lowered section of floor between you and the other side. Fortunately, however, there is an orange portal on that side as well. Simply make a blue portal anywhere within your reach and walk through it to continue. Now you are presented with another gap, though this one has no portal on the side you need to get to. This is where the portal gun's back-and-forth effect becomes important; shoot a blue portal onto the other side - out of your reach - and then walk through the orange portal to reach it.
