General Screen Layout
Top Left
This is your weapons display. It shows what weapon you have selected, how much ammo it has left, and how far along it is on its upgrade to a higher level.
Top Center
This is your health, or "nanotech" display. You start with 10 health units. Below that is your upgrade bar. Each time you upgrade fully, you gain a unit of health.
Top Right
This is your money, or "bolt" counter. As you move through each world, smashing things gives you bolts. Those bolts are used to buy weapons, armor, upgrades and much more.
Bottom Right
Only used in boss battles, this area shows you the health bar for the boss you are fighting.
