World In Conflict Walkthrough
Mission 4 - Into the Mountains

For this mission, you only really need infantry to start with. I took 3 anti-tank squads and 4 regular squads. Concentrate on the 2 fords one at a time - first, move north through the woods. Charge out and attack the northern ford, then quickly use a tank buster on the 2 tanks on the ridge across the river. Fortify the ford, primarily focusing on the eastern point across the river. Watch out for incoming armored vehicles and move your infantry out of the way when they come so you don't get squished.

Once you've secured the river, move south to the wooded area just north of the southern control points. You'll get a bonus 1000 reinforcement points, which I used to buy 2 snipers. Bombard the control points with airstrikes and precision artillery and then pounce quickly to secure them. Focus all your anti-tank units on the two points on the eastern side of the river and keep your infantry in the woods over there if you can (leave as few infantry on the points as you can). Ambush the enemy from the woods when they come and you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Once you've fortified the fords, you have to move north and defend the bridge. You'll get an additional 2000 points and 2 M60 tanks - you might want to invest in some armored units, like 2 light tanks and a Bradley. Cross your units at the ford over to the western shore and THEN move them north, or else they'll get attacked by the enemies on the eastern shore. Use napalm on the woods slightly to the west of the command points - leave some woods for your own infantry to hide in right next to the point, though. Move all your units to the western point (or on the bridge itself) except for a few light units to guard the eastern side. You'll primarily be attacked by armor on the west side and light groups of infantry on the east side, so keep that in mind. After your reinforcements are cut off, move a group of light vehicles (or the M60 tanks, if you have to) over to deal with the artillery - your tactical aid isn't the right kind to deal with them. They're lightly guarded, so deal with them quickly and head back. You'll get access to heavy artillery.

Once your units are back on the point, use the heavy artillery to blanket the western road and the hills north of it. TA points won't be coming as easily as previous battles, so don't waste it on one or two units. If you've got enough infantry in the woods near the west point, your enemies should be running into a wall of anti-tank rockets as soon as they get within range. Keep them in the woods and in range of your enemies. Keep a reserve of TA points - eventually a huge group of enemy tanks is going to come, and you're going to have to drop everything you've got on them. Focus on the southern "wing" of the force - Bannon's force will come to deal with the northern half. Destroy all the enemy forces and Bannon's units will cross.
