Zoo Tycoon Walkthrough
8: African Savannah Zoo
This zoo can either be tricky or easy, and it all depends on your initial layout. The end success really doesn't depend on the animals or zoo rating. Those are easy to get. It depends on *guest hapiness* which must be 93.
The actual conditions for this one are 24 months, 20 animals, 80 suitability for 13 exhibits, 93 animal happiness, 93 guest happiness, zoo rating of 75.
The trick is to keep your guests well fed and to keep them from wandering off. Be sure you seal all walkways at all times so they don't 'escape'. Start out with a restaurant and food court right where the people enter your park. Put a path straight left, and build along that wall and north of the path. I put in 1 giraffe, 2 zebras, 2 lions, 2 hippos, 3 gazelles and 3 ostriches. They fit nicely along that left line. You can get this done by July, and by selling all old cages and other trees and such you should still have money left over. You can always get a good cash bonus by making that lion den perfect.
OK, now keep your visitors happy. Put in a theater, carousel, elephant ride, petting zoo. Make the park 'end' at another food court on the left so they get food and then just walk back to the center again. Now start building to the right - just raise some land to make a land bridge across the water.
Put in a warthog, flamingos, and a babboon. They're all easy to care for and the guests like them. It shouldn't even be the end of the year yet, and you only have 4 more cages to go. Just build them to the north of this other little cross-river group. Put in wildebeest, buffalo, hyena and a leopard, and put a nice little food court up at this end as well. Maybe some fountains and such. This is now the other 'dead end' of your zoo, and guests just go back and forth from food court to central food court to the other end's food court.
Now just beautify until the end of the year!
