Welcome to the February 4th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!
Over the weekend, news came out that Cartoon Network shut down their Toonami Jetstream streaming internet service on Friday, January 30. Right now, it is known that Naruto will continue to stream on other websites. On the Toonami Jetstream website, Cartoon Network is encouraging users to contact Viz Media about the other series that had been featured on the Toonami Jetstream website. With the shutdown of the Toonami Jetstream website, this brings about an end to the Toonami Jetstream brand, which has had a strong association with anime in the United States. There's a thread in the forum devoted to this topic. Feel free to drop by and leave and comments you have about this news. A link to the forum is included later in this newsletter.
This week, I posted an overview article for One Piece. It can be found in the "Current Anime" section of the website. I have also added some words related to One Piece to the word list for the anime games.
I also posted three reviews this week. I posted a review of Gilles Poitras' book, The Anime Companion: What's Japanese in Japanese Animation?; this can be found in the "Anime Book Reviews" section of the site. I also posted reviews for two Japanese CD singles in the "Anime Soundtrack CD Reviews" section of the site: Eufonius' "Idea" and Solua's "Yoake no Ashioto" (these are the opening and ending credit songs for Noein: To Your Other Self).
I also made a change to the Anime Shop. I have created the Rumiko Takahashi Anime sub-shop, and moved the Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2 items into this new sub-shop.
