Welcome to the April 1st edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter! Even though this newsletter is being distributed on April Fool's Day, all the information included in here is true... there are no attempts at playing any April Fool's Day jokes.
Since the last newsletter came out, it was announced that after eight years, Anime Insider magazine is ceasing publication. After NewType USA folded last year, Anime Insider had been the anime periodical with the biggest sales and circulation in North America. The loss of Anime Insider deals another blow to not just the anime magazine industry, but to the anime industry as a whole. There is a thread in the Anime forum dedicated to this topic, and your are invited to share your views on this news there. A link to the forum is included later in the newsletter.
At the BellaOnline Anime site, three new articles have been posted. This week, I posted overview articles for Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch and Fushigi Yuugi, as well as a review for the Voltron Volume 5 DVD set. Links to all of these articles are included later in the newsletter.
This week, I added words from Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch and Fushigi Yuugi to the list for the Anime word games. And Voltron Volume 5 has been added to the Voltron section of the Anime Shop, and is also an Editor's Recommendation on the main Anime site.

On March 26, 2009, Rob Bricken, a former editor for Anime Insider magazine, reported that Wizard Entertainment has ceased publishing the periodical after eight years.
