October 11 2011 Quilting Newsletter

Hi everyone, another week zips by and a great rate of knots and we’re half way through October already. This is a very busy time of year on my calendar. Our annual Quilt show is being presented next week and there’s lots of work to do to get ready for the five day extravaganza.

Tuesday is set up day – usually a very hot day because they don’t turn on the air conditioning and we swelter in our very classy fluro orange workman’s vests. There’s lots to set up, and my main focus is helping to set up the Project Linus and Sunshine Linus booth.

We are allotted a little corner of the quilt show, but are always busy with visitors looking and talking about what we do. We try to have some sort of sewing demonstration going and we find the non-sewers are just as interested in seeing what we do as the experienced quilters.

The next day, Wednesday is the first day of the show and very exciting, as the presentations are made to the prize winners. Our quilt show committee has been producing the show for a number of years now and has the show running like a very well oiled machine. It’s always a pleasure to work at the show. I get to see up close and personal, the wonderful quilts on display. I’m only working two days next week, as I fly to Norfolk Island on the weekend to commence teaching at the quilting week. Hope my energy levels manage to keep pace with the frantic fortnight ahead!

For the last four years that I’ve been writing for the Quilting site on Bellaonline, at this time of year I spend lots of time surfing the web looking for as many free projects and ideas for the Holiday season ahead. Last Sunday I posted the second of four articles with lots and lots of links for you to check out. Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art173238.asp

All quiet on the forum front. Don’t forget girls, it’s a forum for your voice. If you have something to say or a query you wish to ask, pop onto the forum and have your say. Here’s the link to the forum for you: http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php/forums/43/1/Quilting

So, onto my little gifties for you this week. A rather odd collection of interesting stuff – I hope you enjoy the browse.
