July 29 2009 Quilting Newsletter

Hi everyone, it’s the middle of the week and a busy week for me here at home. I’ve been busy making Linus Quilts and they’re turning out really well. I received 5 lots of 6 embroidered blocks from the LQ coordinator and I’ve been developing different ways to make these 6 blocks into a viable quilt. I’m so pleased with the result; I’m going to create these patterns for your all, over the next few weeks. The patterns will have lots of photographs and diagrams, and I’ll be happy for anyone to use them for your charities for children in need.

I’m getting through my stash of children’s fabrics, and it’s a good feeling to be finally using these fabrics I’ve been storing for a long time. When I run out, I won’t feel too bad about purchasing more will I?

Speaking of charity quits, last Sunday I posted an article on a simple Charity Quilt for you to make (must have charity on the mind at present). It’s a very simple quilt and I hope you enjoy making it. Here’s the link to that article:

All quiet on the forums this week, I guess everyone’s getting busy out in the lovely warmth and sunshine of Summer (for those in the northern hemisphere).

I’ve been having a bit of fun on the web this week and I’ve found these three little gifts for you. None of them are connected to the other, just three little “gems” I thought you might enjoy.
The first is a quilt quiz that is slightly difficult but fun to do. Here’s the link to the quiz:

The next is a simple little I spy quilt, with simple instructions:

And my final surprise is from a blog I regularly read and it’s a lovely combination of sewing and cross stitch fonts for your computer. Have fun!!

Well, fellow quilters, that’s all from me this week. I do hope this email finds you all really well and happy and dodging the odd “swine flu” gremlins.

Cheerio for now, take care and have fun quilting,
