September 24 2008 Quilting Newsletter

Hi BellaOnline Quilters, so good to be here again to catch up. Sorry about the very brief newsletter and no gift last week, was feeling a tad unwell, but that’s all over now and I’m back to my bright cheery self.
It’s a very important day for me today – I’ve been editing the BellaOnline Quilting site for exactly 12 months today! I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown by and how many milestones I’ve reached along the way.

Since I’ve begun editing there have been 669 new subscribers to the Quilters Quarters Newsletter and I’ve made some lovely friends through the emails and the forum. May I send my heartiest thanks to all of you for your comments and feedback, recipes, ideas and bouquets. I just love this role and hope to continue with you for a long time to come.

As Editor of the Quilting Site I get access to a number of different statistics and one I check often is the “hits” information. This information tells me how many hits a certain subject gets and this helps me to decide the content of articles to come. I’ve noticed recently that many, many quilters are looking for free patterns to do with Christmas. So with the help of one of my readers who identified old and dead sites for me, I’ve recently updated the Free Christmas patterns section and posted the whole page as an article last week. Here’s the link:

I’ve sourced lots and lots more interesting patterns and give-aways, as well as a couple that need to be paid for but are worth it.

In the near future, I hope to gift to you some interesting patterns I’ve developed over the years especially for the Christmas celebrations. I have a table topper and a lovely patchwork Christmas card to show you. Keep watching this space for those!

I posted an interesting forum a couple of weeks ago and have had a wonderful response from you. The subject was Quilting Friendships and we’ve had 14 very interesting responses. If you’d like to add yours, you are most welcome and please know that every opinion is valued. I just love reading what you have to say quilters, and I try not to comment too much, as this forum is for you especially; I just moderate and pop in from time to time. Go over to the forums and have a look – here’s the link. http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=451174#Post451174

So to my special gift for you this week. I came across this lovely site and I thought you might like to have a go. It’s a quiz about what sort of flower you might be if you were a flower. The responses are easy and it doesn’t need much time from you. Let me know what you think. Here’s the link: http://www.thisgardenisillegal.com/flower-quiz . Oh, by the way, I’m a Sunflower!

So, my dear quilting friends, I will say cheerio for now, and get back to getting on with things and being editor at BellaOnline for the next 12 months. I do sincerely hope that this newsletter finds you all in good spirits. Keep happy and I’ll speak with you next week.
Cheerio and have fun quilting
