Dear readers,

One of the advantages of having to travel during the winter is the opportunity to stay at a variety of hotels in Anchorage. Off season prices are significantly lower than in the summer and so I am able to visit hotels that I wouldn’t even consider staying at during the high demand tourist season.

Of course, I don’t particularly like traveling, even when the accommodations are great! I’d much rather stay at home and enjoy the quiet of a cold winter day, broken only by the bark of the dogs, the fluttering wings of chickadees, nuthatches and woodpeckers, and the hum of the woodstove fan spreading warmth throughout the house.
