May 16 2010 Alaska Newsletter

Well, spring is finally here! The trees are leafing out beautifully, the grass is getting more green by the day and the sound of Canadian geese overhead is a near daily occurance.

I love this time of year. The migratory birds have returned! Sea birds, shore birds, song birds, raptors and water fowl ... after a winter of chickadees, nuthatches and Bald eagles, it is wonderful to see such variety once again.

Here's the latest article from the Alaska site at BellaOnline.com.

Migratory Birds in Alaska
Alaska is the destination and spring/summer nesting grounds for a huge number of migratory birds from all up and down North and South America and even Asia and Africa. Alaska is home to a minimum of at least 470 different bird species, with over half of them being migratory.
