January 29 2009 Animal Life Newsletter

hi, and thanks for your subscription to the Animal Life Newsletter. Here's the latest article from the Animal Life site:

Sea Kittens - a dumb idea from PeTA
PeTA tries to protect fish by renaming them as "Sea Kittens" - what a waste!

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art35081.asp

This article is about PETA's (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) new campaign to protect fish by renaming the 'Sea Kittens'. The article includes a short discussion of how a fish brain differs from a mammal brain, and information about how we can protect our oceans and lakes. There is also a link to a wonderful service offered by the Blue Ocean Institute, called Fish Phone, that allows you to text the name of an edible fish species to them and get back an immediate response on how safe it is the eat that fish and the impact that fishing of that species has on the environment. A great thing to know when you are out at a restaurant and trying to remember which fish are okay to eat!

Please visit animallife.bellaonline.com for even more great content! If you would like to join our online discussions, you can either click on 'forum' from the site page (it's in the upper right corner of the screen) or go directly to the link below.

The forum has been quiet for a while - stop by and say hello and meet other animal lovers, and talk about whatever animal issues that are on your mind. We'd love to see you!

Feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone who might be interested, and as always, thanks for reading!
