October 6 2010 Anime Newsletter


Welcome to the October 6th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!

Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

*Nelvana has announced that the company is presenting a new Bakugan series and a new Beyblade series to potential licensees and distributors at MIPCOM. The new Bakugan series is titled Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge, while the new Beyblade series is titled Beyblade: Metal Masters.

*Crunchyroll began simulcasting the Otome Yokai Zakuro anime series on October 4, 2010. The simulcast will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Portugal. This supernatural anime series is based on a manga by Lily Hoshino, and is set in an alternate version of Japan where humans and demons co-exist.

*Image Entertainment has announced that the company has acquired the rights to distribute Cowboy Bebop: The Movie in North America. The company's website is listing a release date of December 7, 2010 for their DVD release of the film.

*FUNimation has announced that some of the company's titles are now available to rent from Apple's iTunes store. The titles that will be available include Ouran High School Host Club, Initial D, Claymore, and Speed Grapher. Episodes (including high-definition verisons) will be available to rent for $0.99 each, and can be rented for 30 days. However, once a renter starts watching an episode, the episode will only be available for 48 hours before it expires.

*The Anime Network began simulcasting the Samurai Girls television anime series on Sunday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The series is an adaptation of the Hyakka Ryoran Samurai Girls light novels by Akira Suzuki.

*Crunchyroll began streaming the anime series, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt on Friday, October 1. Premium anime and all access members can view this series in high definition without any ads. Free users will be able to view the episode one week later.

*The anime film, Summer Wars, will be screened as part of the Anaheim International Film Festival. The festival will run from October 13-17, and Summer Wars will be screened on October 13 and October 16.

*Anime News Network has announced that the site will be simulcasting the anime series, Oreimo. This series, which is also known as Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai, is about a high school boy who learns his younger sister is a closet otaku that collects anime DVDs and bishojo video games. More details about the simulcast will be announced at a later date.
