November 30 2011 Anime Newsletter

Welcome to the November 30th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!

Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

  • Crunchyroll began simulcasting the gdgd Fairies television anime series with episode seven on November 23, 2011. The site says it will catch up with the previous episodes "at a later date." The simulcast for gdgd Fairies is available worldwide outside of Japan.
  • Bandai Entertainment has announced that the company will be closing its online Bandai Store on December 29, 2011, and the store has started selling items at a discount. The company says it will still continue to sell its DVDs, Blu-ray Discs and other products at other online retailers. Bandai Entertainment also mentioned that customers who accumulated points through store purchases must use their points before December 29, 2011.
  • Pokemon the Movie: Black - Victini and Reshiram, will be airing on the American cable channel Cartoon Network on December 10, 2011.
  • Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company will be dubbing the Dream Eater Merry anime series into English for a release on Blu-ray Disc. However, no release date for the Blu-ray was announced.
  • Anime-zing! has announced that voice actor Cristina Vee will be a guest at their upcoming convention. Vee's credits include Mio in K-ON!, Nanoha in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Louise in The Familiar of Zero, and Alisa in Tekken: Blood Vengeance. Anime-zing! is taking place June 1-3, 2012 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Davenport, Iowa.
  • Niconico and Aniplex Inc. have announced that they will be hosting a free live-screening of the Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection OVA that will have Japanese audio and English subtitles. The stream will be on the Niconico Live-Streaming channel on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:00 a.m. Japan local time, and it will be available in Japan, the United States and Canada.
  • Castle Point Anime Convention has announced that their 2012 convention is taking place Sunday, April 1, 2012 on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  • MomoCon has announced that their 2012 convention is taking place March 16-18, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • Anime News Network is reporting that Right Stuf has reported that the Neon Genesis Evangelion television series is going out of print in the United States. Copies of the Platinum Complete DVD box set are available through Right Stuf while supplies last.

This week, I posted three new articles to the Anime site. The first is an overview article for the Hero Tales anime series. The second is an overview article for the Excel Saga anime series. Neon Genesis Evangelion Collection 0:2
Neon Genesis Evangelion Collection 0:2 is a single DVD that contains episodes five through eight of the series.
