November 9 2011 Anime Newsletter

Welcome to the November 9th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!

Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

  • FUNimation Entertainment has announced that the Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos anime film will be screening at the 2011 Waterloo Festival of Animated Cinema. The festival runs from November 17-20, 2011 in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site will be streaming the Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time television anime series in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The streaming is scheduled to begin the week of November 7.
  • Anime USA has announced that Tony Oliver is a Voice Actor Guest for this year's convention. Oliver's credits include voices in Robotech, Chobits, Bleach, Gun Grave, and Vandread. Anime USA is taking place November 18-20, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.
  • FUNimation Entertainment has announced that the company has licensed the eighth volume of the Hellsing Ultimate OVA Series. FUNimation's release will include the original dub cast of the series. In addition, FUNimation is planning to release the first seven OVAs starting in 2012.
  • NIS America has announced that the company will be releasing Arakawa under the Bridge x Bridge anime series. The thirteen episodes in the series will ship on two Blu-ray Discs and two DVDs with English subtitles on February 7, 2012. Arakawa under the Bridge x Bridge Premium Edition will include a hardcover art book with collectible slip case, cast and staff commentaries, and other bonuses. The package's retail price is US$69.99.
  • Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has acquired the licenses for the A Channel and Un-Go anime series. A Channel focuses on the everyday life of four high school girls. In Un-Go, two characters work together to solve mysteries in a near future timeline.
  • Anime USA has announced that Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham will be unable to attend their upcoming convention due to professional commitments. Anime USA is taking place November 18-20, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

This week, I posted three new articles to the Anime site. The first is a review of Naruto Uncut Season Two Volume 2. The second is a review of the Pokemon: Let It Snow! book. The third is a review of the Pokemon: Get Well, Pikachu! book. I have created a Naruto section of the Anime Shop, and I have added Naruto Uncut Season Two Volume 2 to this new section. I also added Pokemon: Let It Snow! and Pokemon: Get Well, Pikachu! to the Pokemon section of the Anime Shop. Naruto Uncut Season Two Volume 2 is also being featured as an "Editor's Recommendation" on the main page of the Anime site.

Pokemon Let It Snow!
Pokemon: Let It Snow! is a book based on the Pokemon episode, "Freeze Frame."

Pokemon Get Well Pikachu!
Pokemon: Get Well, Pikachu! is a book based on the Pokemon episode, "Get the Show on the Road!"
