April 4 2012 Anime Newsletter


Welcome to the April 4th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!


Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

  • Right Stuf, Inc. and Nozomi Entertainment have announced that they will be releasing the Dirty Pair Flash DVD Collection on July 10, 2012. The collection will include all 16 episodes of this OVA series, and it will feature remastered video from the Japanese DVD release. In addition, there will be English audio, Japanese audio, English subtitles and on-screen translations. Bonus features in this set include line art gallery, two clean opening sequences, two clean ending sequences, U.S. trailer, and Nozomi Entertainment trailers. This 3-disc set carries an SRP of US$39.99.
  • Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed the Hatsukoi Limited television anime series. The company will release the series digitally, and then on subtitled DVD later in 2012.
  • Crunchyroll announced that the company is streaming the Space Brothers television anime series as it airs in Japan. The company is streaming the series in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Brazil, and Portugal. The streaming began on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 p.m. EST.
  • Crunchyroll announced that the site is streaming the Folktales From Japan television anime series as it airs in Japan. The site is streaming the series worldwide for premium members outside of Japan, and for free members in the following countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The streaming began on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
  • Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed the second season of the Phi Brain: Puzzle of God television anime series. The Anime Network and "other digital outlets" will stream the 25-episode sequel series online, and Sentai will release the series on home video later in 2012.
  • NIS America has announced that the company will be releasing Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai in North America under the title, The Flower We Saw That Day on July 3, 2012. The two-disc Blu-ray and DVD subtitled release will come with a slipcase and 38-page full-color hardcover art book. The suggested retail price for the set is US$69.99.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site began streaming the You and Me season 2 television anime series on April 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The series will be available to Crunchyroll's premium members worlwide except in Japan. It will also be available to free members in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
  • NIS America has announced that the company will be releasing Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You- Volume 3 Premium Edition in North America on July 3, 2012. The set is being released as both a 2-disc DVD and a 2-disc Blu-ray set. The premium edition comes in a sturdy slipcase with a hardcover artbook titled, "Their Memories." The artbook is a collection of memories from the characters of the series. Extras on the discs include two mini-episodes that feature Kurumi's interpretation of two classic fairy tales, Episode 0 (which is a recap of Volumes 1 & 2 as seen through the eyes of Kurumi), and clean opening and ending. The episodes on the set have Japanese audio and English subtitles. The MRSP for the set is US$69.99.
  • Viz Media has announced that the company is streaming the Zetman television anime series on their website as it airs in Japan. The anime premiered on April 2, 2012.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site will begin streaming the Yurumayes television anime series on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The series will be available to Crunchyroll members worldwide except in Japan.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site began streaming the Naruto spinoff anime series, Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals, on April 3, 2012 at 5:30 a.m. EDT worldwide for premium members outside of Japan. The episodes will be available for free one week later in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
  • Tora-Con has announced that voice actors Kyle Hebert, Caitlin Glass, Leah Clark, Jamie Marchi, and Trina Nishimura will be guests at their upcoming convention. Tora-Con is taking place April 21-22, 2012 at the RIT campus in New York.
  • Discotek has announced on the company's Facebook page that it will be releasing the original Captain Harlock television series on DVD. According to the post, the series will be sold as a subtitled, complete box set that will contain all 42 episodes.
  • Discotek has announced on the company's Facebook page that it will be releasing the Love*Com/Lovely Complex television anime series. According to the post, the series will be sold as a subtitled, complete box set containing all 24 episodes.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site will begin streaming the Sengoku Collection television anime series on April 5, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The site will stream the series for premium members worldwide outside of Japan. Each episode can be seen a week later by free users in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
  • Crunchyroll has announced that the site will begin streaming the Polar Bear's Cafe television anime series on April 5, 2012 at 5:00 a.m. PDT. The site will stream the series for premium members worldwide outside of Japan, Each episode can be seen a week later by free users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
