Welcome to the April 7th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!
Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:
*FUNimation has announced that the company has acquired the license to Chobits. In addition, the company has also acquired the licenses for the Eden of the East films and Spice and Wolf II. Chobits and the three Eden of the East films are slated to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in 2011.
*Boomerang, Cartoon Network's spinoff channel for "cartoon classics," has begun airing the first season of Pokemon. Boomerang is airing the episodes at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
*One Piece Strong World, the tenth One Piece film, will be screened at the Hawaii International Film Festival in Honolulu on April 18 and 20. On April 19, the anime film Summer Wars will also be screened.
*The new working title for the upcoming new Voltron series on Nicktoons has been changed from Voltron Panthera Force to Voltron Force. Also, the live-action Voltron movie is now in "reboot" mode; both of the scripts that had been written for the film have been scrapped, and the director that had been chosen has left the project.
