August 10 2011 Anime Newsletter

Welcome to the August 10th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!

Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

  • Sentai Filmworks has announced that the company has licensed the No. 6 anime series. According to the press release, the company will be distributing the title on home video in 2012 with additional digital outlets coming "soon." Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series outside Japan every Friday.
  • The Toronto International Film Festival has announced that it will host the world premiere of the A Letter to Momo anime film as part of the September 8-18 event's TIFF Kids program. The film is directed by Hiroyuki Okiura and produced by Production I.G.
  • The New York Anime Festival is hosting writer-director Makoto Shinkai as a guest during the October 13-16 convention in New York City. Shinkai will be presenting the New York premiere of his latest film, Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, at the festival.
  • The Anime Network began streaming the No. 6 anime series on August 7, 2011. A new episode will stream every Sunday at 12:15 p.m. (CDT). This 11-episode series will be available for free viewing on The Anime Network's website; however, registration is required.

There are topics in the anime forum for these news stories. If you'd like to join in on the discussion, there's a link to the forum later in the newsletter. You need to have a BellaOnline forum account in order to post, but signing up for a forum account is free.
