August 11 2010 Anime Newsletter

Welcome to the August 11th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter!

Here are the headlines to come out of the anime industry since the last newsletter:

*Sentai Filmworks has acquired the license to the anime series, Ghost Sweeper Mikami. This 45 episode series is based on a manga by Takashi Shiina.

*A stage musical version of Studio Ghibli's Only Yesterday film will be running in Tokyo's Ginga Gekijo theater from April 16 to 29, 2011. After its run in Tokyo, Only Yesterday will move to Semboku City, where it will play from May 8, 2011 to January 3, 2012. In April of 2012, the play will go on a national tour. This is the first stage play adaptation of a Studio Ghibli production.

There are topics in the anime forum for these news stories. If you'd like to join in on the discussion, there's a link to the forum later in the newsletter. You need to have a BellaOnline forum account in order to post, but signing up for a forum account is free.

This week, I posted two new articles to the Anime site. The first is a review of the anime film, Ponyo. The second is a review of The Slayers: The First Three Seasons DVD box set. The Slayers: The First Three Seasons has been added to the Anime Shop, and it is also an Editor's Recommendation on the main page for the Anime site. I also added words from Ponyo to the list for the Anime word games.

Thank you for your support of the BellaOnline Anime site, newsletter, and forum. Be sure to watch your inbox next Wednesday for the August 18th edition of the BellaOnline Anime newsletter.
