Hello All,

We received Clinton's Death Certificate yesterday and his official cause of death was "Multiple Sequelae of Anomalous Left Coronary Artery Origin" in other words my son was born with a defective left coronary artery in his heart which lead to his death. It went undetected for years. He recently began to complain about chest pains and was administered an EKG but that would not have detected this condition. The only way to detect this problem is with an MRI of the heart which as his doctor stated is not something that would be ordered for a 17 year old healthy boy. After his EKG and a series of breathing tests he was back to normal so we never looked at his heart again.

His doctor now believes that his seizures may have been caused by not receiving enough blood supply to his brain which would make all of the tests they ran on him come back normal because they do not measure blood levels in the brain. We will never know what really caused them but that is a possibility.

So we now know that this condition is very rare but can be inherited. We also learned that he could have had heart surgery but his lifestyle would have changed and his love of basketball might not have been allowed. That is not what Clinton would have wanted...he was a very active child and love to exercise and play ball.

I want to urge all of you to really take care of yourselves because heart problems are silent killers and we would have never thought that our healthy 17 year old son would die from a problem with his heart.
