CLEAN THOUGHTS

Ever have one of those crazy days?  Maybe it's a crazy week...or a crazy month.  Well, for some strange reason I was struggling with finding a topic to write about for this newsletter.  (Normally, writer's block is not something that I suffer from.)  But I was having difficulty writing about cleaning today.  Funny, but my house is having difficulty staying clean this week, too.   Then, I got to thinking about some of the "crazy" cleaning ideas I have personally witnessed and some that others have written to tell me about.

Yes, some of those ideas are out there.  Like using underwear to clean with.  I remember going to a friend's house to work on a decorating project and she whips out an old pair of her husband's underwear to clean some brass fittings for a piece of furniture we were working on.  We both looked at each other in stunned silence -- she knowing that I was looking at her hubby's dirty old drawers and me knowing that I was, well, looking at her hubby's dirty old drawers.  It was an uncomfortable moment to say the least.  I wonder if she still uses them?

I can honestly say that I would never be desperate enough to use old underwear for anything.  Please:  use old towels, dishtowels, t-shirts (maybe), but never, ever use old underwear.  You might just embarrass yourself -- and someone else. ;-)

Warmly,

Kathryn Weber
