July 28 2006 Environment Newsletter

This week's article illustrates that we all may not know what green building really means. The new article is up and can be read here:
Green Building
Ideas to keep in mind when building green

Tip of the week:
This is my favorite tip! Carefully dismantle rooms and buildings during a renovation, so you can salvage reusable materials. These items can then be used again, donated, or sold.

Did you know:
Average weight of drywall dumped daily into landfills around the globe: 40,000 tons; percent that can be recycled: 100%! (Gypsumrecycling.biz)

Quote of the week:
"There is no shame in not knowing, the shame lies in not finding out." -Russian Proverb

Word of the week:
Greenfield Site -noun- a place in the countryside, not previously built on, that is chosen as the site for a new housing development or factory. Urban fringe sites are less attractive to developers than greenfield sites.

Treehouses aren't just for kids anymore! Check out Free Spirit Spheres for a unique space that can be built in the trees.

Please visit environment.bellaonline.com for even more great content about the Environment. To participate in free, fun online discussions, this site has a community forum all about the Environment located here.

You can also visit me at The Goode Life, this is my personal site, where I share lots of ideas on going eco without going loco!

I hope to hear from you sometime soon, either in the forum or in response to this email message. I thrive on your feedback!

Have fun passing this message along to family and friends, because we all love free knowledge!

Have a good weekend,
