August 4 2006 Environment Newsletter

Environmentalism is so hot right now, I ponder in the new article if green is just a trend or here to stay. The new article is up and can be read here:
Green is the new Black!
Has environmentalism become trendy?

Tip of the week:
With temperatures breaking records all over, we are putting a strain on our electrical grids. Unplug any appliances you are not using to save energy. This includes lamps, toasters, and TVs. Many appliances continue to draw energy even when turned off.

Did you know:
Global Warming is the increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere and oceans caused predominately by greenhouse gas emissions from cars and power plants. George W. Bush, refused to ratify the United Nations Kyoto protocol, to reduce greenhouse gases [he] calls it climate change. It means the same thing, it just doesn't sound as scary. (Elle, 5/06)

Quote of the week:
"I suggest in the next election, instead of voting your pocketbook, vote your kidneys, vote your liver, vote your lungs, vote your gall bladder, vote all the organs in your body that are going to have to filter out-eventually, unsuccessfully all the toxic material that is in the atmosphere, the water, and the food supply. Vote your kid's DNA. Stop voting for environmentally agnostic candidates. The Democrats are hardly the Green Party." -Bill Maher

Here's a great link to a non-profit site that works to grow a green economy for people and the planet: Co-op America

What does Green mean? -adjective- 1. referring to a color. 2. referring to an interest in ecological and environmental problems. 3. a person with a concern for ecological and environmental problems.
