I have been watching for thunder storms to roll in. The days are much warmer now here in Washoe County. Some afternoons the thunder clouds build up and we all feel change in the air. Then the clouds disappear and the sky clears up again. I am kind of ready for a good old fashion thunder storm. The sound of thunder is like a loud drum that sends vibrations through everything -- like the heartbeat of Mother Earth

I love to visit Virginia City. It is not far from us, about a forty-five minute drive from home. Mark Twain once lived there. He worked at the Territorial Enterprise where his office is on display, just as he left it. One of his contributions in the Enterprise was about the 'Petrified Man'. Here is an excerpt:
Territorial Enterprise, October 4, 1862
A petrified man was found some time ago in the mountains south of Gravelly Ford. Every limb and feature of the stony mummy was perfect, not even excepting the left leg, which has evidently been a wooden one during the lifetime of the owner - which lifetime, by the way, came to a close about a century ago, in the opinion of a savan who has examined the defunct.
