GERMANY'S EAST FRIESLAND, AND ITS TEA CEREMONY

Across Germany coffee is more popular than beer, except for East Friesland in the northwest of Germany where the 'number one' beverage is tea, their own Frisian Tea blend, and anyone who prefers coffee is known as a ‘Koffjenoese’, a coffee nose.

East Friesland, which lies alongside the North Sea in the northwest of Germany, is often both windy and cold, and the East Friesens ‘number one’ beverage for those ‘warming up’ duties is tea, their own Frisian Tea blend. Coffee is more popular than beer in the rest of Germany, but anyone who lives here and prefers coffee is known as a ‘Koffjenoese’, a coffee nose
