THE CHRISTMAS TREE APPLE, THE PARADIESAPFEL

Weihnachten/ParadiseApplewithborder

If you look carefully you will see a red apple sitting amongst the branches of many Christmas trees in Germany during Weihnachten.

It is the "Paradiesapfel", and on Christmas Eve, Heiligeabend, it is a symbol of hope and promise for all those who see it. And, as usual, there is quite a story behind it.

And the "Words Of The Week" are

Ich wuensche Ihnen ein gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest

I wish you a blessed/joyous Christmas

and

Ich wuensche Ihnen frohe Festtage

I wish you happy holidays

I hope you have a peaceful and enjoyable time

There is much more to read and discover on the German Culture site, which also has a forum, so if there is anything you would like to see or if you have any questions or comments then please feel free to get in touch, either in the forum http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=247 or via email.
