Hi everyone,

I just want to say a word about the German Culture site so far this year. For personal reasons, I haven't been able to write very often. That is all changing now and you will receive newsletters with links to my latest articles much more often.

Thanks for sticking with me!

Here's the latest article from the German Culture site at BellaOnline.com.

German Fact-of-the-Week

After World War II, Germany was controlled by France, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Soviet Union. On May 23, 1949, the French, British and American sectors joined together to create the Federal Republic of Germany with its capital in Bonn. On October 7, 1949, the Soviet sector became known as the German Democratic Republic with its capital in East Germany. At that point, the Germany that the world had feared ceased to exist and became known as East Germany and West Germany. This continued until reunification in 1990.
