German Fact-of-the-Week

Germany produces over 600 types of cheese, with the majority of those cheeses being produced in Bavaria. German cheeses can be classified as one of five types: hard cheese, semi-hard cheese, semi-soft cheese, soft cheese and fresh cheese. Examples in order of hardness include: Allgaeuer Bergkaese (mountain cheese), tilsiter, butterkaese (butter cheese), camembert, and quark.
