September 12 2011 German Culture NewsletterThe latest article from the German Culture site features GERMANY AND ITS CHEESE CULTURE...........and yes it does have one. From the North Sea to the Allgaeu, Germany’s ‘Foodie’ favourite, Cheese, is produced in everything from small mountainside farms to industrial dairies right across the country. Processed cheese exists but is not very popular, because there are hundreds of regional specialities and national varieties of 'real' cheese, to choose from, ranging from mild to spicy, highly flavoured and sometimes less than fragrant. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art173134.asp Munich's famous annual Oktoberfest begins on the 17th September, and I have placed the illustrated article that covers its history and the present day festival back on the German Culture homepage, so you can catch up on what will be happening for the next three weeks in Bavaria. Where there will also be many small 'Oktoberfests' taking place around the region. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art18320.asp germanculture.bellaonline.com has many articles covering life, living and the culture and traditions of Germany, as well as a forum http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=247 and I look forward to reading any comments, questions or ideas for topics which you would like covering, either in the forum or via email.
