Financial Markets Summary for the Week Ending 5/23/08

I think that one of the main financial headlines of the week was the tour that famed investor Warren Buffett made this week of companies around Europe.Mr. Buffett said he could no longer find quality,well-run companies for him to buy at a reasonable price in the United States! That is why he is searching globally. His thoughts reflect mine and emphasize the importance of investing at least a portion of your money overseas.

Stock Markets around the globe had a lousy week with the US market falling about 3%. Most overseas markets fell from 3%-4%. The only asset class which rose was commodities which were led by oil as they continue their rise due to demand from emerging economies overseas. Remember that now there are commodity-related investments that are available to even the smallest of investors which can help everyone offset the rising cost of gasoline and food and other necessities.
