FINANCIAL MARKETS SUMMARY for the WEEK ENDING JUNE 27,2008

Finacial markets highlights for the week included: the Federal Reserve deciding to leave interest rates unchanged; General Motors stock plunging to levels not seen since 1955; commodity indices hitting all-time highs.

The stock market had a terrible week with steep drops for all of the major indices. The indices are all now flirting with an "official" bear market, with losses of approximately 20% from their highs.

The other major financial trends continued this week. The US dollar continued to drop in value. The US dollar has now lost nearly 50% of its value vs other major currencies since the Bush administration took office in Jan 2001. The dollar drop help lead commodities to sharp gains with many of them hitting all-time highs.
